Ahead of Friday night’s episode of The Exorcist, fresh off of a one-week hiatus, we learned about the impending return of fan-favorite Casey Rance (Hannah Kasulka) to the show. Possible season one spoilers ahead…

Showrunner Jeremy Slater joined Father Thomas (Alfonso Herrera) on Twitter to promo “There But for the Grace of God, Go I” – and who should wander into the frame but season one star, the formally possessed Casey Rance.

Fox has since confirmed this tease to mean that Casey is returning this season, which is good news to us. Casey, of course, was the main focus of last season, sharing a lot of scenes with Father Marcus (Ben Daniels) and housing the very same demon that tortured her mother back in the 1973 film masterpiece.

We don’t yet know when Casey will make her return, as our principal characters aren’t currently in Chicago, but this just adds another level to Slater’s multi-layered horror story.

Of course, to readers of Geek, this shouldn’t be too big a surprise as Kasulka herself alluded to as much back in May when we spoke to her at the Motor City Comic Con.

As for the latest episode, the aforementioned “There But for the Grace of God, Go I” they really turned up the creepy factor with our latest revelations about Grace. Marcus and Father Thomas have now merged with the John Cho-led island crew and the story is really starting to pick up.

The next episode of The Exorcist will air on Fox Friday, November 10 at 9 pm, and will bring Alicia Witt (Justified, Urban Legend) to the cast as Nicole.
