If you have not been reading the New York Times bestseller Saga, by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staples, now might be an excellent time to start. In celebration of Image’s 25th anniversary, the 43rd issue of the notoriously odd and explicit series will be priced at just 25¢.
For those of you who have yet to dive into this spectacular whirlwind of a tale, Saga follows the intense adventures of an interspecies couple caught up in a war while raising their new child. That should be enough to draw you in, but if not, some of the gorgeous artwork from Staples should do the trick.
However, for those of you who have already fallen in love with Alana, Marko, and Hazel, issue #43 will mostly involve the rebellious trio taking on new challenges in a more western part of their universe. In addition to that news, and the intriguing cover, Vaughan has stated that this issue marks the beginning of Saga’s “craziest storyline yet,” and if you have read the storylines leading up to this, you should be very excited, and perhaps a little bit afraid of what is yet to come.
The 25¢ collectible issue will be available at your local comic book store as early as May 31st, as well as a few limited edition prints from Fiona Staples in both color, and black and white. If that release date is a little too far away for you to get your Saga fix, you can look forward to Saga’s second deluxe hardcover containing issues #19-36 on April 26th.
Until then, if you’d rather not catch up on the previous issues, keep yourself busy with another soon-to-be-classic series from Vaughan and Image, Paper Girls, and be sure to pick up the 25¢ issue of Saga.
