Game of Thrones

Jason Momoa is returning to television in the Apple series See, a new sci-fi drama series written by Academy Award nominee Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, Peaky Blinders, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) and directed by Francis Lawrence (Red Sparrow, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, I Am Legend).

See is described as an epic, world-building drama set in the future. It takes place in a time when the human race has lost their sense of sight. As a result, society has had to find new ways to interact with each other and generally survive without being able to see. See, that title makes a little more sense now! Momoa will star in a lead role as Baba Voss, a fearless warrior, leader, and guardian. Additional details about the series are still under wraps at this time but the show will consist of 10 episodes and premiere on Apple’s new streaming platform.

See marks Momoa’s return to series regular television following roles in The Red Road, Netflix’s Frontier and Game of Thrones, in which he memorably starred as Khal Drogo in the hit show’s first season. His small-screen credits include North Shore, Baywatch: Hawaii and Stargate Atlantis. On the feature side, the actor will next star in the title role in DC Comics’ Justice League spinoff Aquaman, which is set for release on December 21.

Momoa is the latest big name star to sign on with Apple. Previously, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon sold a drama series set behind the scenes of a network morning show in which both women will star. Octavia Spencer will star in the series Are You Sleeping? alongside actors like Lizzy Caplan, Aaron Paul, and Ron Cephas Jones. However, even with the company announcing over a dozen shows with high-profile talent attached, there’s still no indication of how anyone will be able to watch any of it.

Now just to be clear, Momoa looks like he will be stretching his acting chops playing a *checks notes*… fearless warrior. Okay, we all love the guy, mostly because you know exactly what you’re going to get from him, which is usually a strong, fearless warrior-like character. So just for fun, we thought we’d share all the times Momoa has played one of these fearless warrior, leader and guardian type characters like Baba Voss in See.
