X-Men

Fans didn’t have to wait too long for more news after Marvel dropped a quick tease of the future of the resurrected Jean Grey following the events of the upcoming Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey. The brief moment in the video revealed that Jean Grey would be getting her own team of X-Men, which promised “new uniforms, a new team headquarters, and exciting new characters” to form up around the classic X-Men character.

Marvel initially teased the new team with a silhouetted cover that featured Jean Grey in her new costume leading a team of unknowns, which started the fan speculation. The team was teased a few members at a time until the final image was revealed, which you can check out below:

The new team includes a few interesting X-Men members as well as some new additions to the team:

Marvel is excited to reveal the heroes who will accompany the omega-level telepath as she battles against one of mutantkind and mankind’s most dangerous villains! This uniquely qualified strike force includes Namor, Nightcrawler, All-New Wolverine, her sister Gabby, Gentle (a mutant from Wakanda), and the mysterious new character Trinary, whose secrets will be revealed throughout the pages of X-MEN RED!

“We’ve also got one more fan-favorite hero joining the team in this first arc,” says X-MEN group editor Mark Paniccia. “As the threat level escalates, Jean needs to build a highly specialized team…not just those she trusts, but allies who can survive the oncoming storm.”

Who that fan-favorite hero is remains to be seen, though with the return of Logan in the pages of Marvel Legacy, and the absence of adult Scott Summers in the Marvel Universe, it’s a safe bet that Logan might be joining up as well.

When one of the most dangerous X-Men villains returns to wreak havoc, Jean’s dreams of peace are threatened…and order starts to turn to chaos. It’s mutant against mutant this February in an all-new adventure that will have X-fans on the edge of their seats, as Jean Grey’s team takes on the Marvel Universe – only in X-MEN RED!

You can pick up the first adventures of the new team when X-Men Red hits comic stores on February 7, 2018.
