It seems like the Jim Henson fandom is never too far from our geeky eyes, with news recently dropping about the upcoming The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance prequel series on Netflix. Reaction from that announcement further proves how beloved some of the classic Henson films are to fans, something McFarlane Toys plans to capitalize on with their newest line of detailed figures.

The announced figures will include Jareth the Goblin King – David Bowie’s character from Labyrinth – as well as Jen and Kira from The Dark Crystal. Todd McFarlane, CEO of McFarlane Toys, released a statement about the new line of toys:

“Jim Henson was one of the most visually creative minds, and these incredible movies are just the tip of the iceberg. We pride ourselves on our creativity and attention to detail, and to be able to make figures of these iconic characters is something pretty special.”

Jim Henson – most commonly known as the man behind The Muppets and the voice of Kermit the Frog – co-directed The Dark Crystal with Frank Oz in 1982, and then went solo on Labyrinth in 1986. Both films have created a pretty faithful fanbase for both The Jim Henson Company and Brian Froud, the conceptual artist behind the fantastical creatures of both films. Froud will continue to bring his unique eye to The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on Netflix.

McFarlane Toys plans to release Jareth the Goblin King in November, with Jen and Kira to release the following spring. Maybe if the launch of these characters is successful we could see more characters released. Who would you like to see McFarlane Toys release from The Dark Crystal or Labyrinth?
