Time-traveling dramas have been hit-and-miss on network television, with a FlashForward or Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for every Fringe or Quantum Leap. That hasn’t stopped NBC from turning to time-displacements and quantum singularities as the foundation for one of their upcoming shows this fall.
Created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield) as well as producers John Davis and John Fox of NBC’s hit The Blacklist, the new series casts Abigail Spencer in the role of a history professor who is joined by a soldier played by Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett as a scientist who jumps to key points in American history. They pursue a mysterious time-traveling villain played by Goran Visnjic after he steals the technology that makes shifting through the past possible, presumably with the intent to muck things up for our heroes and the present day.
The cast also includes Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Kripke and Ryan are writers and exec producers, along with John Davis, John Fox. Director Neil Marshall is also executive producing and will presumably add his considerable directing skills to the endeavor.
