As if gigantic terrifying monsters fighting equally gigantic human controlled mechs wasn’t bad ass enough, John Boyega gave us all a little bit of info via his twitter account about the title of the forthcoming Pacific Rim sequel.
So there you have it, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is confirmed to be the title of the latest Kaiju bash. Still not a whole lot known about the plot beyond the usual mega fisticuffs. The inter-dimensional “breach” was collapsed and closed in the first movie, but surely that wasn’t the only one on Earth. And plus we need a sequel so get ready for a rematch between the Kaiju and the Pentecost bloodline with John Boyega starring as the son of the late Stacker Pentecost.
Also starring in the sequel are Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian. Personally, I’m just waiting to hear if Charlie Day is coming back to save the day with his mind and the many Kaiju brain parts in his lab.
Pacific Rim: Maelstrom will be directed by Steven S. Deknight, a name that should be familiar to Geeks everywhere, as it appears in the opening credits of shows like Angel, Smallville, Dollhouse, Spartacus, and Daredevil.
The sequel is eying a release date of February 23, 2018.
