We’ve got some new information about David F. Sandberg’s Shazam!, complete with a full synopsis that sheds some light on what the upcoming origin film plans to do with its time.

Additionally, we’ve learned that Dwayne Johnson will be boarding the film as an executive producer, although he still won’t be appearing in the film. If anything, Johnson will possibly show up for a brief moment in some kind of post-credits sequence. Taking a page out of the MCU book, Justice League featured two post-credits scenes last year, which many fans thought were among the best scenes in the entire movie, so it’s possible that DC will continue that trend in the future.

Shazam

The official synopsis of Shazam! reveals:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).

In addition to the three actors listed, Shazam! also co-stars Jack Dylan Grazer, Ron Cephas Jones, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, and Marta Milans. Shazam! was written by Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo) and Darren Lemke (Goosebumps), and comes to theaters on April 5th, 2019.
