Star Wars Rebels

The popular animated show Star Wars Rebels has had a really strong third season, so it wasn’t a surprise that a recent announcement revealed the series was renewed for a fourth season. Now, creator and former showrunner Dave Filoni has confirmed that the show will have a presence at next months Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando. Again, this announcement isn’t a huge surprise, especially considering that when news broke about Thrawn joining season three of Rebels at last year’s Celebration event it dominated the headlines from the weekend. Of course, Rebels will probably have trouble dominating the event this time around as it’s expected that we’ll be getting a lot of news about The Last Jedi. In any case, the Rebels event should be very entertaining as Filoni knows how to work and tease audiences. Oh yeah, and we’ll be getting a trailer.

According to the event posting on the official Star Wars Celebration website, “Filoni and special guests will bring an epic sneak peek at what’s to come in Star Wars Rebels fourth season!” This is a dead giveaway that they’ve been working on the fourth season well before we received the official announcement if they already have a trailer ready for next month. More importantly, the trailers for Rebels have been phenomenal so far and this one should continue that trend. It will definitely help tide fans of the series following next week’s season three finale.

Here are a few things that we are likely to see in the trailer at next month’s event.

  • Dantooine – As the third season has progressed, the Rebels are closer to forming a fully fledged alliance and recently Hera and Ezra assisted in getting Mon Mothma on her way to the planet Dantooine. It looks like Chopper base will become compromised in the season three finale and Phoenix Squadron could very well end up at Dantooine as well with a larger group of Rebels.

Star Wars Rebels Mon Mothma

  • Speaking of Mon Mothma, there’s a decent chance we could see both her and Bail Organa as they were both instrumental in forging the Rebel Alliance. As the timeline of Rebels gets closer and closer to the events of Rogue One and A New Hope we’ll have to see the Alliance come together, so it would make sense for the most important leaders to at least show up for cameos.
  • Mandalorians – While Sabine will apparently be returning for the season three finale, it doesn’t look like she’s got a whole bunch of Mandalorians in tow. Considering where we last left her, it would be surprising if we don’t see more of the Mandalorian story arc in the next season and whether or not their able to rally meaningful numbers to their cause.

Considering that they’ve also announced Celebration will take next year off with the next event now slated for 2019, this year’s event is shaping up to be a big one. Be sure to check back with us for our coverage of all the important news coming out of the Star Wars Celebration next month.

The kind of Geek that has several shelves on my book case dedicated to Star Wars novels. Star Wars is essentially a way of life for me. Other things are cool too. Generally a big fan/critic of movies, I try to go to the theater once a week. There's a lot of great TV out there too, chances are if I can, I'll write about the stuff I love. I dig the Marvel and D.C. universes so far...except Suicide Squad...that was a disappointment. I love a lot of music but I gravitate to alternative and punk. The Libertines are my absolute favorite. Michigan born and raised and I root for my home teams; Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and Spartans.
