MGM has released a new trailer for its upcoming 10-episode prequel series, Stargate: Origins, which focuses on Catherine, daughter of Professor Langford as she embarks on a journey to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate and to save Earth from an unimaginable darkness.
Ellie Gall leads the cast of Stargate: Origins as Catherine and is set to portray the legendary Stargate icon who was played by Elizabeth Hoffman in the original Stargate SG-1, while the elder Langford is played by Stargate Atlantis alumni, Connor Trinneer. Stargate: Origins will explore a brand new chapter in Catherine Langford’s early history surrounding the extraordinary portal.

The trailer shows off a bit of new footage involving Catherine as she explores the Stargate device in Giza, Egypt in 1928. We get a glimpse at Nazi occultist Dr. Wilhelm Brücke trying to sabotage the younger Langford’s plans after she comes across a diary with new symbols that relate to the gate. Along with her small group of companions, she must fight to keep the device out of the hands of Brücke. We get a new look at the gate opening and the time-traveling aspects of the show, which leaves some fans wondering how they won’t mess up the franchise’s existing canon, considering this series is set nearly 10 years after Professor Paul Langford discovered the ancient Stargate relic in the Egyptian desert in Roland Emmerich’s original 1994 film.
Directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan, and written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry, Stargate: Origins co-stars Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.
The 10-episode series will premiere on Stargate Command starting February 15, 2018.
