Sesame Street has done some really good parodies in the past, having recently spoofed The Walking Dead with a story about the Cookie Monster as Sheriff Graham, who must learn to curb his hunger for everybody’s sake. Now, Netflix’s Stranger Things is getting the parody treatment with the Cookiegorgon and the Snackside Down. The Cookie Monster’s Cookiegorgon is searching for a treat on Halloween, while Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Mike are out trick ‘r treating together.
It’s a pretty hilarious spoof that even includes a couple references to Barb, and Muppet recreations of Eleven and Eight that are literally the numbers 11 and 8. The spoof is titled “Sharing Things,” and it’s about the Cookiegorgon learning to share his cookies and Halloween candies with other people. I haven’t watched Sesame Street in a while, but I was kind of surprised by how good the green screen and VFX have gotten. And I think that’s why Sesame Street has been on the air for so long. It’s one of those shows that works hard to stay relevant, and this Stranger Things parody is no exception.
Be forewarned, there are some spoilers for season two, including the whole Eleven and Eight thing. We see Will throw up a gummy bear, and Hopper is played by a bunny rabbit. Even Ernie, playing Dustin, has his front teeth missing.
