It’s true that not every remake, reboot, spin-off, sequel, or prequel is all that great. For the most part, they’re not even all that good. But some of them have proven to be, if not totally fantastic, at least interesting and original. The ever-expanding Conjuring universe that’s been growing almost entirely without our collective knowledge has just produced another spin-off film from The Conjuring 2. This time, the creepy claymation nightmare fuel is getting his own movie, too! Spooooky!

Honestly, this Conjuring universe is one of the more interesting franchises that’s come around in a while. The first Annabelle was definitely on the underrated side of things, and if they can work out the kinks with the non-Conjuring films in the franchise, there’s a lot of potential to do something great here. Probably best achieved by hiring good directors! The character that’s getting his own spin-off is known as The Crooked Man, and he’s based on an old, creepy-as-hell nursery rhyme that goes like this:

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

Pretty creepy. The film is currently being written by Mike Van Waes, a writer who’s also working on a Wizard of Oz-themed horror film. No directors have been attached to the project, but expect it sometime after The Nun, which is set to hit theaters on July 13th, 2018.

Josef is GEEK's resident snob, and that's exactly the way he likes it. At the ripe age of 20, Josef has been writing movie reviews online for closer to a decade than he'd like to admit, and is reaaallly starting to hit his stride. You can find Josef's writing on Medium, VIMOOZ, and other scattered corners of the internet, but if you really want to get to know him, Twitter is the place to be.
