With the newest season of The Exorcist now getting production and shooting underway, there is plenty to look forward to in the next showdown with the forces of evil. Not only are Ben Daniels (Marcus), Alfonso Herrera (Father Tomas) and Kurt Egyiawan (Father Bennet) returning to our TV screens, but they’re also running into some new faces and a new setting for the newest season.

Joining our returning triumvirate of Vatican heroes are John Cho (Star Trek, Harold and Kumar series), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool) and Li Jun Li (Quantico). As reported by Deadline, the second season of The Exorcist will take us out of Chicago and onto an island off the coast of Seattle, because what could be creepier than a possession when you’re trapped on an island?

The latest from show runner Jeremy Slater at San Diego Comic Con this year was that the setting on the island will be at a group home for foster children, one of which will be played by Brianna Hildebrand. Hildebrand is most known for her stint as the young mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead from 2016’s comic smash hit Deadpool. She definitely has the teen angst profile down just right and she was a big hit with audiences there, and she seems to be a perfect fit for the show. John Cho will be playing a psychologist who runs the group home where the newest demonic threat pops up for Fathers Tomas and Marcus to deal with. Li Jun Li will also be a presence at the group home as the social worker overseeing the children placed there.

It was also teased that “one or two” of the Rances may show up somewhere in down the line in season 2, and after our interview with Hannah Kasulka at the Motor City Comic Con, it’s a safe bet she’ll be one of them.

It’s intriguing to see season two of The Exorcist shaping up the way it is, and one can only hope that the TV spots will start dropping soon as the premiere date is fast approaching in September. What does everyone think of the direction the second season is going thus far? Happy to have some new blood in the mix? Sound off in the comments below.
