Andrew Lincoln, best known as the gun-toting zombie killer Rick on The Walking Dead, will be lending his voice to the new audiobook version of Quidditch Through the Ages, written by Kennilworthy Whisp. The announcement came during this year’s A Celebration of Harry Potter at the Universal Orlando Resort.
Lincoln will be embracing his inner witch and added that he has looked forward to becoming part of the Harry Potter Universe:
“The Wizarding World is one that I always wanted to get the chance to step into. What makes this project so special, is not only that it allowed me the opportunity to create something my kids love and enjoy, but it also supports great causes, like Comic Relief and Lumos.”
The original book, one of the Hogwarts Library Books J.K Rowling wrote in 2001, was released in partnership with Pottermore, Bloomsbury, and Comic Relief to raise money to help fight the root causes of poverty. The audiobook will feature some bonus audio content; a Quidditch match commentary. These come courtesy of an enthusiastic Ginny Potter, voiced by Imogen Church, a fun easter egg for hardcore fans who know that Ginny became the senior Quidditch correspondent for the Daily Prophet following her career as a professional Quidditch player.
No need to beware the ides of March this year, the new audiobook is set to be released worldwide on March 15th and is currently available for pre-order on Audible. 15% of the proceeds received by Pottermore Limited from the audiobook will be made available by the publisher to Comic Relief and Lumos Foundation for their work with children and young people to help them have a better life.
