Justice League

Sad day for Cyborg fans. DC has axed the comic book series of the half-man, half-machine hero. John Semper, Jr., the series’ writer from day one, will complete his writing stint with this month’s Cyborg #18. Then Kevin Grevioux of the Underworld movie fame will finish up the series with issues #19 and #20.

Cyborg, aka Victor Stone, was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez. He made his first appearance in DC Comics Presents #26 back in 1980 before becoming a founding member of the relaunched New Teen Titans series. Victor received his cybernetics from his father to save his life after a lab accident. That would later change in DC’s universe-spanning New 52 relaunch in 2011. In this version, Cyborg is fused with the technology of a Mother Box, a sentient computer created by the New Gods. With that connection, he proved instrumental in aiding Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman to repel an invasion of Earth by the New God Darkseid. He is a founding member of the 52 universe’s Justice League, and received his own solo title in 2015.

Below is solicitation info for the last two issues:

Cyborg continues to play a major role in the DC universe. He is a mainstay in the Titans Go! animated television series and just appeared in the live-action Justice League movie, which is currently playing in theaters. Finally, there are hints he will be taking a leadership role in the Justice League comic book series.
