Lgend has it that Victor Crowley, known as the swamp monster, is stuck in the night that he died. A serial murderer with diminished intellect and supernatural origins, Crowley is the singular figure of the Hatchet horror franchise, and the latest movie titled simply: Victor Crowley, was a sequel/reboot that brought Kane Hodder back into the makeup chair and the murderous swamps yet again.

Dark Sky Films, the distributors of Victor Crowley, announced that the film will be hitting home video in 2018 via their Twitter account. Although they didn’t provide an exact release date, they did verify that it would be announced very soon and teased fans with a short teaser trailer for the film, filling viewers in on the plot. You can take a look at the tweet from Dark Sky Films below. and the new hashtag #VictorCrowleyLives to follow along for updates.

Set a decade after the events of the series’ first three films, Victor Crowley reunites Hatchet mainstays Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th 7 – X’s Jason Voorhees) and Parry Shen (Better Luck Tomorrow) for an all-new, horrifying journey into the haunted, blood-drenched bayou.

In 2007, forty-nine people were brutally torn to pieces in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Over the past decade, lone survivor Andrew Yong’s claims that local legend Victor Crowley was responsible for the horrific massacre have been met with great controversy, but when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Yong must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past.

The movie, filmed under the radar as Arwen’s Revenge (named after his Yorkshire terrier and Movie Crypt podcast mascot), was screened by director Adam Green to a wildly surprised audience at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinema as part of the honor to Hatchet‘s tenth anniversary this past year. The film has since been making roadshow appearances at festivals like Toronto’s After Dark Film Festival and repertoire theaters.
