Back in July, Activision announced that it would be publishing Terminal Reality's The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts, a first-person shooter TWD prequel that follows brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon on their journey to Atlanta. This left some scratching their heads. Most looking for an interactive adventure set within that world were thoroughly engrossed in Telltale Games’ episodic series, The Walking Dead. Would an action heavy FPS be able to capture the human drama at the center of the series as well as Telltale had? Was another game really necessary?
Well, regardless of how you feel about Survival Instincts, it’s definitely on the way and will probably sell like gangbusters. Series creator Robert Kirkman isn’t involved with its development; however, he tells Game Informer that it could be “worthwhile.” Apparently members of the AMC show’s cast also think so. On Friday, Activision revealed that Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker would be reprising their roles in the game. The other cast members will likely not be involved as the game takes place before they all cross paths.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is scheduled to hit the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Find the teaser trailer below.
