Nerd and geek powerhouses have teamed up for an adventure that will take fans from a galaxy far, far away all the way to the front doors of San Diego Comic-Con this summer... and all for a good cause! Course of the Force is a first-ever marathon event that will find fans and celebrities passing a Star Wars lightsaber from the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles all the way down the coast to the San Diego Convention Center on the opening day of Comic-Con International. Benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, fans are asked to sign up with a donation of $500 a person to run an approximately 1/4 mile stretch of the course that leads down the West coast of California over the course of 5 days, with parties each night for fans and VIP guests at various points along the way. With the involvement of Lucasfilm, Machinima, Octagon, and Nerdist Industries, whose host, Chris Hardwick, will be hosting live broadcasts online each night, the event hopes to bring in thousands in donations for kids in need of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's amazing services.

Head to the official site to register and learn more about how you can become involved in this massive event. Even if you can’t be in California, you can still follow along on the Nerdist official channels as they stream much of the event live throughout the week leading up to and during Comic-Con.
