Considering that time travel (or at least more than one time period) will play a considerable role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, it's no surprise that we'd be seeing older versions of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender's characters in the X-Men: First Class sequel. But it's a fanboy's dream come true to find that both Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will be reprising their roles from the original films to play the mutant icons in Bryan Singer's upcoming film. Singer himself announced it on Twitter this morning.
Of course, the extent of their roles isn’t defined yet, but it will hopefully be a bit meatier than the guest appearances made by Rebecca Romijn and Hugh Jackman in the last film. Speaking of which, with Stewart and McKellan in play, that gives one hope that other original trilogy actors might make an appearance, creating a perfect mix of X-Men films new and old. If we saw more of the “old” team, which characters would you like to see?
