Our pals at Valiant Entertainment sent over a preview of their first big X-O Manowar story of 2013, “Planet Death.”
From the creative team of Robert Venditti (The Surrogates) and Trevor Hairsine (X-Men: Deadly Genesis), this story arc finds our hero, Aric of Dacia, facing off against The Vine armada after they arrive on Earth with “something far more terrible than any war machine.” Using the X-O suit, Aric launches an assault against The Vine homeworld with plans of not stopping until “the capital of their interstellar empire has become a planet of death.” Hey, that’s where they got the title!
“‘Planet Death’ is a story that we’ve been building toward over the course of the entire series, and the threads of it go all the way back to X-O Manowar #1,” Vendetti said in a statement. “At his core, Aric of Dacia is a warrior, and, as his conquest of Planet Death begins, we will see him leverage the skills that he knows best — leadership, open warfare, and the all-out brutalism of the battlefield.”
Things get underway in X-O Manowar #9 & #10 with the two-part “Prelude to Planet Death.” The “invasion begins in full scale” in X-O Manowar #11, which will mark the return of Cary Nord (Conan) as interior artist.
