Now that we’ve seen the latest DC animated feature – Justice League Dark – we can resume our excitement for the upcoming Teen Titans: Judas Contract, which is set to adapt one of the best Titans storylines ever. We’ve been watching this film develop for a long time now, with a version of the film having been in the works since Warner Bros. Animation first started making their fantastic full-length home release films back in 2007 with the release of Superman: Doomsday and Justice League: The New Frontier. An adaptation of “The Judas Contract” was rumored following that first wave of films and remained in the works until today.

DC animation recently released both our first official image from the film as well as the confirmed cast list, which includes the late Miguel Ferrer as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke. He will be joined by Christina Ricci as newcomer Tara Markov AKA Terra, who we first caught a glimpse of in the post-credit scene of Justice League vs. Teen Titans. That film introduced us to the modern version of the Teen Titans, and will feature that returning voice cast: Sean Maher as Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Kari Wahlgren as Koriand’r/Starfire, Taissa Farmiga as Raven, Brandon Soo Hoo as Garfield Logan/Beast Boy, Jake T. Austin as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, and Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne/Robin.

It’s important to note that this current line of animated features takes place in a version of the New 52 universe, as evident by the red color scheme of Nightwing’s costume, which was how the character appeared in the now-defunct universe. With DC Rebirth now rewriting some of the wrongdoings of the New 52 universe, we have to wonder when the animated universe might start to reflect that new universe as well, much like this current version did previously with the New 52.

For now, we can be happy that we’ll be seeing The Judas Contract finally brought to the small screen, even if it is with a more modern New 52-inspired take on the team. Are you looking forward to the long-awaited adaptation? Let us know in the comments section below!
