Production for the upcoming Marvel/Netflix The Punisher continues to push on in New York City. The series – which is slated to drop on Netflix sometime later this year – has already seen a slew of set photos hit the web, the most recent of which showed star, Jon Bernthal, sporting some gnarly facial bruising. Now, set photos from the production have finally revealed images of the vigilante Frank Castle sporting full on Punisher garb as he’s wearing a black tactical vest with the iconic white skull painted on the front. You can check out the new images here.

Bernthal as Frank Castle in Daredevil Season 2

While we did kind of see Bernthal in the full get up back in the season two finale of Daredevil, this new look is slightly different from that iteration. The white of the skull is a bit brighter and really pops plus there are several bullet holes in the skull, though it’s not clear whether the holes are part of the normal look or if Castle happened to take a few rounds in the chest. Also seen in this new batch of set photos is Amber Rose Revah’s character, Dinah Madani. She plays a homeland security agent that is constantly frustrated by Castle.

While story elements are largely unknown, based on casting announcements and comic history it seems that the first season of The Punisher will very much be a personal journey for the vigilante. Ben Barnes has been cast as Billy Russo, a friend of Castle’s from his special ops days. However, in the comics, Russo is the alias of the villain named Jigsaw and if he truly is the primary antagonist opposite Castle, the fight will undoubtedly become personal. This will be doubly true if the CD that said “micro” on it has information pertaining to the death of his family, though that’s purely speculation at this point. All we know is that it’s important.

The Punisher will likely drop after Marvel’s next outing on the popular streaming service – The Defenders. Be sure to stay tuned for more news on The Punisher as the series gets closer and closer to release.

The kind of Geek that has several shelves on my book case dedicated to Star Wars novels. Star Wars is essentially a way of life for me. Other things are cool too. Generally a big fan/critic of movies, I try to go to the theater once a week. There's a lot of great TV out there too, chances are if I can, I'll write about the stuff I love. I dig the Marvel and D.C. universes so far...except Suicide Squad...that was a disappointment. I love a lot of music but I gravitate to alternative and punk. The Libertines are my absolute favorite. Michigan born and raised and I root for my home teams; Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and Spartans.
