Several new interesting bits of information on WB Games' Batman Arkham Origins (PC, Playstation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360) were revealed yesterday at an SDCC panel.
Here’s what we knew pre-con: Arkham Origins is set five years prior to Arkham Asylum. In it, you’ll play as “a young, raw, unrefined” version of the Caped Crusader locked in battle with eight assassin’s attempting to collect the $50,000,000 bounty put on your head by the Black Mask. The panel today revealed one of the assassins – The New 52 version of Copperhead (this one is female, for those not keeping score at home). The trailer embedded below shows her in action. Since it’s an origin tale, Robin won’t be involved; there is a slight chance that Batgirl will show up in some capacity, though.
A few things were mentioned in regards to the handheld Arkham Origins Blackgate (Nintendo 3DS, PS Vita) as well. It will be set shortly after the events of Arkham Origins and “really open up the DC Universe,” according to DC’s Geoff Johns. Does that mean more of the publisher’s characters will be getting the Arkham treatment? Here’s hoping! It’d be great to play through a dark, gritty Booster Gold game, wouldn’t it?
Both Arkham Origins and Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available for purchase on October 25.
