Remember that night a few days before Comic-Con when the internet almost broke in half? Yeah, that was due to a Sharknado.
What’s a Sharknado? Well, if you’ve been cut off from the world in your storm bunker these past few weeks, Sharknado is the surprise Syfy network hit that overtook social media sites like Twitter and Facebook with its odd combination of, not surprisingly, sharks and tornadoes. While many were stuck in a perpetual state of eye-rolling as the phenomena erupted, many more took the absurd concept at face value and had fun with it. No, Sharknado isn’t The Godfather. It’s not even Godfather III, but it’s a helluva lotta fun.
Director Anthony C Ferrante just so happens to be a senior editor at GEEK magazine, so it was only natural that he, along with producer David Latt and writer Thunder Levin, brought a Sharknado feeding frenzy to the Geek booth at San Diego Comic-Con last week, signing posters and meeting fans of the surprising indie action horror hit.
And, just in case you’re wondering, there are rumors of a Sharknado 2.
Here’s a cool bit of coverage from our pals over at Grantland to give you an idea of what the madness was all about.
And if that isn’t enough to convince you that Sharknado is everything its title claims to be (and more), check out the official trailer…
