It is finally here! That's right friends, San Diego Comic-Con 2014 got underway this evening and just as expected, the news has been coming out at an extremely fast pace. The panels will divulge more but let's take a look at those little tidbits released already at SDCC 2014!
When Mad Max: Fury Road was announced sans Mel Gibson, there was a bit of trepidation as to what that meant for the reboot. One look at the Comic-Con poster and perhaps all those reservations were for no reason.
Not as fantastic a poster we might have hoped for, but it isn’t horrible by any stretch of the imagination. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more from Mad Max: Fury Road during their Hall H panel on Saturday morning.
Another film with a Saturday morning panel is The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. They also joined the early release poster game with this Comic-Con exclusive poster featuring Smaug in all his fiery glory.
If you are like me, you continually forget that there is a Warcraft movie coming. As happens with movies involving a lot of studio and post work, there hasn’t been a lot of things released and/or leaked from the filming of the Duncan Jones film. Well, now we have a logo which will likely seem really familiar to fans of the various Blizzard Entertainment properties.
Tell me that doesn’t look like the StarCraft logo combined with the colors of the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion. But that doesn’t really matter because holy crap we finally see something from Warcraft! Time to get excited.
Of course we can’t talk any bit of Comic-Con without mentioning The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel holds their big panel on Saturday night but that doesn’t mean they weren’t joining everyone else in releasing teasers. In this case it is some beautiful concept art featuring Iron Man and Scarlet Witch.
And one of the big reveals of the night has to be the concept poster for Ant-Man, released by EW and Marvel Studios, along with a new synopsis.
When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film’s script.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Of course everyone and their dog (or their Funko toy) is on twitter and have all combined to help get numerous SDCC 2014 tags trending already. We’ve gathered up a few of our favorites, including a look at the new Batsuit from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
