Yet another trailer for a highly anticipated (by some, at least) film has made its way to the web today. This time, it’s The Lone Ranger, a film from director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
The film retells the origin story of the titular ranger, aka John Reid (Armie Hammer), as he transforms from “a man of law, into a legend of justice.” He and Tonto (Johnny Depp) form an alliance to stop the forces of “greed and corruption,” according to the official plot description. Not much is known in regards to the storyline beyond that, but the trailer mentions an object that would put “time and space under the mastery of men.” This, most likely, will provoke the ire of The Lone Ranger purists.
It appears that Disney has another Pirates of the Caribbean on its hands. There’s a bit of action & adventure in the trailer; humor will supposedly be interspersed throughout the film as well. Those three elements and a kooky performance from Depp (he’s playing Tonto here, which does qualify as kooky) are what made the Pirates films so memorable. I fully expect them to do the same here.
The Lone Ranger will be in theaters on July 3, 2013. Will you be checking it out?
