D'oh! I'm too late! I wanted to take part in the Simpsons Ultimate Fan Marathon in celebration of their milestone 500th episode, but somehow I missed the original announcement. I guess I'm not as big a fan as I thought I was. Well, at least I can head down to the Hollywood and Highland Complex Center in (duh) Hollywood, CA, to watch better fans than I attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest television viewing (current record holds at 86 hours, 6 minutes, and 41 seconds). Those fans will sit, stand, and possibly dance, dance, dance their way through all 500 episodes of the Simpsons in hopes of taking home a bunch of Simpsons swag and $10,500 in prize money! (I could have really used that.)
The descent into animated madness begins on Wednesday, February 8th. The “members” of the Simpsons (the voice actors or just people dressed in costumes?) are expected to arrive at 3:30pm PT to get things underway. Then it goes until either they run out of episodes or the last surviving person with verifiable brain activity drops (Feb 12th if they want to break the record).
