If you were a geek who grew up in the 90s, odds are you were a fan of Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete. The incredibly endearing program was a surrealistic look at the lives of two brothers named Pete in the small town of Wellsville, USA. The show was well-known for quirky cameos from the likes of Adam West, Steve Buscemi, REM’s Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop, Luscious Jackson and Miracle Legion’s Mark Mulcahy playing with his imaginary band, Polaris. Needless to say, it wasn’t typical Nickelodeon fair.
On August 28, as part of Cinefamily’s Everything Is Festival and the FYF Fest, “virtually” everyone involved (creators and cast) with The Adventures of Pete & Pete will reunite at The Orpheum Theater in Downtown Los Angeles for a lengthy discussion on the series. As an added bonus, a reunited Polaris will perform music from the show.
Tickets go on sale to the general public July 21; Cinemfaily members may purchase them tomorrow. They will be available in two flavors- General Admission ($25) and VIP ($75). If you pony up the cash for the VIP ticket, you’ll be able to party with the cast and crew after the event and get a limited-edition silkscreened poster from artist Dimitri Simakis.
