After more than 20,000 fans from 40 countries gathered together in Essen, Germany, for Star Wars Celebration Europe this weekend, one question remained on everyone's minds until the closing ceremonies this afternoon: When can we do this again?
Lucasfilm has confirmed that the next US-hosted official Star Wars Celebration, the 7th since 1999, would take place April 16-19, 2015, in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center.
After Celebrations 5 and 6 took place in Orlando, Florida, in 2010 and 2012, it was time for a change of venue, as it was always meant to move around the country to different locales every few years. Previous Celebrations have taken place in Denver (1999), Indianapolis (2002 and 2005), and Los Angeles (2007). With the promise of new Star Wars films after the Disney acquisition late last year, this purposely-timed Star Wars Celebration will arrive a little more than a month before the expected premiere date of Star Wars Episode VII: Name Yet To Be Announced. It’s location should not be a surprise either, as it will take place literally across the street from the Disneyland Resort.
For Star Wars fans across the globe, expect this event to be its biggest ever, chock-full of advanced footage of the new JJ Abrams directed film along with probably the most extensive gathering of cast and crew members from the films ever assembled in one place. Also expect exclusive toys, special panels with the casts, past and present, and probably a special event in Disneyland itself at some point during the weekend.
Tickets go on sale almost 2 years in advance of the event on AUGUST 7th, 2013!
