Welcome back to the Star Wars Roundup, our weekly look at all the Star Wars news you can handle!
Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend
This week in the Star Wars universe Disney announced the newest addition to their series of half and full marathons.
The Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend will take place January 15-18 2015 and include the half marathon, a 10k, a 5k and a slew of short meter dashes for all ages. The event will feature characters and entertainment at the races end. As with Disney’s other races, the event will take place throughout Disneyland Park in California. If the force is strong, you can go for the Rebel Challenge and complete both the 10k and half marathon to receive a special medal in addition to the half marathon and 10k finishing medals.
Registration for the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon opens June 10, 2014.
Star Wars Hot Wheels
Hot wheels announced their upcoming collaboration with Star Wars via Twitter this week. The official reveal will be available June 10 in the Star Wars Insider #150. The San Diego Comic Con exclusive release will no doubt be the first of many toy releases related to the upcoming film. Disney already sells die cast Star Wars vehicles available at their parks, but legitimate Hot Wheel versions of either the Star Wars vehicles or Star Wars inspired paint jobs will certainly fly off the shelves.
The Jedi Doth Return
The final two installments of the William Shakespeare’s Star Wars, The Empire Striketh Back and The Jedi Doth Return, hit stores July 1st. The Elizabethan retelling of the original trilogy written by Ian Doescher is a must read for Star Wars and Shakespeare fans alike. Doescher reweaves the epic space saga that Shakespeare would be proud of. Quite possibly the most fun way to introduce young readers to the beauty of iambic pentameter, R2-D2′s soliloquies are of particular note.
