A brand new trailer for the upcoming Super Mario 3D World showcases a variety of new powerups and abilities that players will be able to try out, either solo or in the game's four-player cooperative multiplayer.
The video (which clocks in at six minutes, which is perfectly fine by us) shows off each character’s defining traits. While Mario remains the go-to all-around character, much like in the NES classic Super Mario Bros 2, Luigi can jump higher than his comrades, Peach can increase her airtime by floating, and Toad can run the fastest.
Still, the standout moment of the Super Mario 3D World trailer was seeing each new powerup in action. New to the series is the Cat Suit, allowing players to run up walls, pounce from the air, and perform an entire suite of acrobatic stunts. On the other hand, the “Double Cherry” item adds another Mario (or whatever character you are playing as) onto the screen, allowing you to control an entire army of death-defying plumbers. Of course, standby powerups such as the Boomerang, Tanooki, and Fire upgrades make an appearance as well.
You can get your hands on Super Mario 3D World when it launches on November 22 in North America and November 29 in Europe, exclusively on the Wii U.
