Hugely popular Japanese musician T.M. Revolution and the hip-hop group Home Made Kazoku will be performing at Otakon 2013.
Otakon which runs from Aug 9th to the 11th is celebrating its 20th year in a big way. Otakon attendees will get a rare chance to see a couple of Sony Music Japan’s top musical artists perform live in Baltimore, MD. Thanks in large part to the popularity of anime, music lovers outside of Japan now find it easier to discover music and artists that were typically reserved for listeners within Japan.
T.M. Revolution – Save The One, Save The All, featured in Bleach the Movie: Hell Verse
One of the artists whose music has been featured in plenty of anime and videogame credits is T.M. Revolution. T.M. Revolution is a solo act that has a celebrated career. He made his start in 1995 and has been constantly reinventing himself as well as his music ever since. T.M. Revolution has provided music that was used in Bleach the Movie: Hell Verse, D.Gray-man, Darker than Black, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Final Plus: The Chosen Future, Rurouni Kenshin, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings 2, Soul Eater and more. He has not only provided songs for anime but has also had minor voice acting roles in them as well, most notably within the Gundam series of anime shows.
Home Made Kazoku (HMK) is a three member hip-hop group from Japan that is celebrating its tenth year this year. Their name translates into English as “Home Made Family” and their music reflects that. Members Micro, Kuro, and DJ U-Ichi perform hip-hop influenced, “feel good” music that is upbeat and fun to listen and bob your head to. This writer had the pleasure of attending one of their concerts in Tokyo this past spring and can vouch that they know how to get a crowd pumped up. Otakon goers would be glad to know that members Micro and Kuro are originally from the States, so communicating with them at the con in English is not a problem. Try to catch them at an autograph signing or at a panel and say hi.
Home Made Kazoku – Shooting Star, featured in Naruto Shippuden
For those that are able to attend the Otakon, be sure to check out these two truly outstanding musical acts. They’re big in Japan and they’ll be big in Baltimore too, you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.
