Coming on the heels of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer are four character posters for our favorite weapon wielding mutants.
Given how relatively creepy (I mean we are talking about massive mutant turtles here so we can’t say they’d never looked creepy) the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are, perhaps it is best that these new posters just focus on the weapons. Thankfully the bo staff, sai, nunchaku, and katana don’t have faces that look like the Evian babies.
Honestly, as far as posters go, these are pretty good. They aren’t a floating head. They aren’t “hero stands on top of hill gazing at horizon of destruction.” They aren’t even the usual teal/orange combo (take a look at these X-Men: Days of Future Past posters for a great example of that one).
One thing that is a little odd, is the “Coming Soon” tag there on the bottom. You’d think at this point in the game the August 8 release date would be a firm decision.
Shortly after our last Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles news round-up, it was announced that Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub had been added to the cast as the voices of Leonardo and Splinter respectively. While Pete Ploszek and Danny Woodburn provided the physical acting for the two characters, apparently Paramount has always told the actors that it was no guarantee that their voices would be used. Enter Knoxville and Shaloub.
Surely I’m not the only one who gets a bit of a chuckle thinking of Tony Shalhoub, whose last major role was that of Adrian Monk in USA’s Monk, as a sewer dwelling rat.
So what do you think of these new posters? Of Paramount’s move to have different actors voice the roles of Leonardo and Splinter? Let us know down in the comments below or, as always, on the GEEK Facebook page!
