While this month will certainly be remembered for the launch of not one, but two next-gen consoles, you shouldn't forget about "the Big N".
Yes, Nintendo has a handful of titles releasing this month, most notably a brand new entry in the long-running Legend of Zelda series.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds marks the first original Zelda title for Nintendo’s newest handheld, but series fans should take note; A Link Between Worlds is actually a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which is often considered one of the greatest games of all time.
Taking place six generations after A Link To The Past, A Link Between Worlds follows a brand new Link, as he travels back and forth between the Light and Dark worlds surrounding the kingdom of Hyrule. Being a 3DS title, the gameplay emphasizes the system’s 3D capabilities by toying around with verticality and depth, although you can play the game strictly in 2D if you so choose (after all, Nintendo has just released the 2DS, which eschewed the glasses-free 3D in favor of a lower price).
The game’s only a few weeks away from release, but to whet your appetite, Nintendo has released two new trailers showing off the gameplay mechanics and music. First off is the gameplay trailer (which you can view above), which showcases Link’s arsenal of weapons, including an ice rod which can be used to freeze lava, allowing for safe traversal. The music trailer on the other hand (which can be found below) shows off the rather lighthearted and charming music from the game. Three themes can be heard in the trailer, including the music for Hilda (the princess of Lorule, which is the “Dark” equivalent of the kingdom of Hyrule), Ravio (the shopkeep who aids Link on his quest), and Yuga (the antagonist who sets the events of the game in motion).
You can get your hands on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds when it releases on November 22nd in North America and Europe.
