The Purge: Anarchy Trailer – More Government-Sanctioned Violence

The Purge brought a new level of shock and fear to the "escape-from-the-house" horror flicks, what with the plot being that the government has sanctioned once-a-year crime sprees.

If you were a fan of that film and want to see what else folks living in this warped version of American can do during their free-pass-on-crime day, you don’t need to theorize or look at fanfiction any longer! That is, if there is fanfiction for The Purge anyway. All you need to do is check out the trailer for the sequel, The Purge: Anarchy!

The sequel is aiming to being even more terrifying than the first – instead of being stuck in the suburbs with Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey, audiences will see what happens when a couple gets stuck in the heart of the city, where everyone is out for blood.

Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez are two folks that happen to have the worst luck in the world. Their car breaks down in the middle of the city on the worst night of the year, the night of the Purge. In a world such as this, you would hope that you make sure you’ve got everything you need and that your transportation is in working order. Gilford has made it clear in several statements that the adventure (if you want to call it that) of his and Sanchez’ characters trying to live through the night happens during the same night in the first Purge film.

The Purge: Anarchy is written and directed by James DeMonaco and also stars Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo, Nicholas Gonzalez and Edwin Hodge. The film is expected to hit theaters June 20, right toward the beginning of the summer blockbuster season.
