October is upon us which turns almost everyone into beings desiring to have the wits scared out of them.
So what to do? Where to go? We took it upon ourselves to seek out the best haunted houses the country has to offer. We looked from North to South and East to West and have found what we believe are some of the better haunted attractions to check out this Halloween season.
Trail of Terror (Wallingford, Connecticut)
The Trail of Terror has been in business since 1994 and has been upping the ante every year since. The sets are always changing and the actors love to dish out some great scares. If you’re in the Northeast and looking to get scared, well then this is place for you.
Thrillvania (Terrell, Texas)
As they say – every thing’s bigger in the great state of Texas, and Thrillvania is no exception. Originally founded by ex-Disney imagineers, this property is definitely not one of the happiest places on Earth. With four unique attractions, movie quality sets, and some of the best shocks per square inch, if you want to be scared, this is place to be.
Netherworld (Altanta, Georgia)
Netherworld has been an iconic haunt in Georgia for many years and never fails to disappoint. One of the things that makes this attraction different from any other is the scope of their haunts. They have some giant set pieces that are just astounding to look at while you’re getting scared witless. Some people say don’t believe the hype but with Netherworld you will have no choice from the moment you step through this legendary haunted house’s doors.
Confront Your Fears (Vancouver, Washington)
Washington is famous for its music, coffee and one of the best haunted houses in the area. Confront Your Fears challenges you to do exactly that as there are four unique haunts for you to try. From the high energy and scares of “Biohazard” to the twisted mazes of “Morbid Nightmares”, this is one haunt you will want to come back to.
Erebus (Pontiac, Michigan)
This Michigan attraction takes the claim of being the biggest haunt with over four stories of scares to inflict torture on their guests. But don’t take our word for it as it has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records four years straight (2005-2009). Erebus is definitely not for the faint of heart as some people have not been brave enough to go through the entire attraction.
Pirates of Emerson (Pleasanton, California)
Last but not least is a great attraction that started out small but has grown into a giant attraction. The Pirates of Emerson is a haunt that sports six attractions with one being their signature attraction. A massive pirate ship takes center stage and is themed accordingly as there are scares around every corner.
So there you go! These are just six of the hundreds of haunted attractions that are around the country. To find some of the great ones that are in your neck of the woods, go to Haunted House Directory and prepared to get scared!
