With The Walking Dead launching their season 4 premiere and doing a panel at the New York Comic Con (NYCC), it's only natural that we will be flooded with news and tidbits about the AMC hit show.
Of course, that will include any important casting news that comes our way. It looks like the show has cast two major characters from the comic book the series is based on, and it includes a personal favorite of ours. Michael Cudlitz (Southland 4 Life!) and Josh McDermitt (Retired at 35) have been cast as Army Sgt. Abraham Ford and Dr. Eugene Porter respectively.
In the comic book series, the two are traveling companions that run into Rick on their journey as Abraham acts as the protector for Dr. Porter, a high school science teacher. In the books, Abraham plays a pivotal role in the group after initially butting heads with Rick. Of course, the show has already proven several times that the comic can’t be counted on to predict how things will play out.
Cudlitz appeared in character at The Walking Dead panel in NYCC, as a late addition to help drive the fans nuts over the news. Both characters are going to be series regulars and it will be interesting to see how they get integrated into the television show’s story line. Of course, following Cudlitz’s work on SouthLAnd, I’m sure this version of Abraham will have no issue living up to the badass we saw in the books.
Don’t forget, The Walking Dead is airing new episodes of the fourth season on AMC Sundays at 9pm EST.
