We got our first look at Transformers: Age of Extinction during the Super Bowl, but only enough to catch our interest.
Now a new full length trailer has dropped and reveals some key story elements, including more with our new lead characters and how they come to be involved with the Transformers after the first three films.
But enough wasting time, let’s check out that trailer:
Plenty of autobot action, the trailer focuses pretty heavily on Mark Wahlberg and his family, who buys a rusty semi to strip for parts so he can send his daughter to college. Of course, the truck turns out to be more than meets the eye, and Optimus arrives on scene. The rest of the trailer is pretty much non-stop action and new Transformers left and right.
While some fans may have given up on the series after Revenge of the Fallen, this trailer actually looks entertaining, and Wahlberg just might be the right leading guy to make the human connection to the Transformers a little more bearable. And whatever your feelings are regarding the original trilogy, there is no denying that Bay can film a very beautiful looking movie.
There is also an interesting hint to a viral site in the trailer, which was located by Cinema Blend:
If you pause right at the 13-second mark of the spot you’ll notice a billboard that reads in all caps “REMEMBER CHICAGO” and the tagline “Report Alien Activity” – an obvious reference to the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The key part of this billboard, however, is the number listed in the lower right hand corner:
Rather than being a standard Hollywood fake number that has 555 as the first three numbers after the area code, you’ll notice that this is actually a real number. Calling (833) 363-8392 takes you to an automated message that warns all citizens to stay clear of all Transformers, stay alert, and to be sure to report all sightings to the local authorities. From there, the path of the viral continues, as the voice tells the listener to head over to the website TransformersAreDangerous.com.
