With a hit film, a sequel on its way, and a 3D Universal Studios ride in Orlando ("Despicable Me Minion Mayhem"), it's not surprising that Illumination Entertainment producer Chris Meledandri today announced a Despicable Me spin-off film featuring, arguably, Despicable's most popular characters, the Minions. It will be directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda from an already completed script by Brian Lynch.
The movie will feature the Minions antics as they interact with a number of new and existing characters. Expect it to hit screens in 2014, within a year after Despicable Me 2‘s debut on July 3rd, 2013, where we’ll likely get a sneak peek at what we can expect from the little yellow goggled troublemakers.
