Valiant is resurrecting the “worst superhero team” in comics! Beginning today, the first portion of the original Quantum & Woody is available digitally via comiXology.
The series sprung from the mind of writer/ordained Baptist minister/music producer Christopher Priest and artist M.D. “Doc” Bright. It featured two mismatched partners – decorated Army officer Eric Henders and ne’er do well Woody Van Chelton – whose bodies are transformed into pure energy after an industrial accident. If the metal gauntlets they wear aren’t slapped together once every 24 hours, their atoms will fall completely apart. The series also featured notable contributions from Keith Giffen (Justice League) and Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead).
“With few exceptions, Quantum & Woody are characters that we get asked about in just about every interview, in every piece of fan mail, at every convention, and just about everywhere in between,” said Dinesh Shamdasani, Valiant’s COO. “This is a series that has gained a die-hard following unlike any other in comics. Now, for everyone that never had a chance to jump into Priest and Bright’s subversive, envelope-pushing, and outright hilarious tribute to the superhero genre, we promise, it will have been well worth the wait.”
As I mentioned, the first leg of the series may now be acquired from the comiXology store. Number one is free; the following twelve will set you back $1.99 each. The rest of the series will be added on October 31, presumably for the same price. Perhaps we’ll see a full Quantum & Woody reboot if this revisit is successful. Be sure to pick ‘em up if that’s something you’d like to see.
