Next year Marvel is planning to kick off with a bang for the Avengers, as the team once again faces an end of an era. Avengers: No Surrender will combine the three ongoing Avengers titles for the weekly event that promises to tell a story that’s as “exciting and powerful as the Marvel Universe itself.”

The end of the Avengers Era as we know it is arriving…and it all starts with AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER! Today, Marvel is proud to present a teaser trailer for a story that’s so big and so dramatic, we had no choice but to make it a weekly epic!

Co-written by Mark Waid, Al Ewing and Jim Zub with art by Pepe Larraz, Kim Jacinto and Paco Medina, AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER unites the casts and creative teams of three titles into one weekly book of exciting action. It all starts with AVENGERS #675 this January, when the teams of THE AVENGERS, UNCANNY AVENGERS, and U.S. AVENGERS come together in a story as exciting and powerful as the Marvel Universe itself.

No Surrender is kind of both a rallying cry for what the Avengers are facing and kind of a statement of fact,” SVP of Publishing Tom Brevoort revealed. “There is no surrender in this because this is a do-or-die situation. Either the Avengers went out and saved the day or there is no day to be saved tomorrow.”

The apocalyptic trailer showcases a number of key players in the current Avengers titles – The Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, U.S.Avengers – as a new threat endangers the world, and a new (old?) Avenger named Voyager returns to the team. The trailer also ends by teasing the return of Bruce Banner, who was the first casualty of Civil War II. The trailer also reveals the return of Thanos’ Black Order and other cosmic villains that help show the scope of the new event.

“This is an epic story and one of the great advantages that we have in the comic book medium is we have an unlimited special effects budget,” Marvel EIC Axel Alonso said. “Stuff that you can’t get away with in movies because it’s too expensive we can do no problem. And that’s exactly what we intend to do.”

Be sure to pick up the end of an era when Avengers: No Surrender hits comic shelves in January.
