We saw some of our first promotional material for the upcoming sequel to Fox’s superstar hit Deadpool this week as Ryan Reynolds graced the cover of Good Housekeeping in full costume, along with a brand new Thanksgiving-themed poster that featured the new members of the cast. It was a perfect example of the kinds of extremes a film like this isn’t afraid to go when it comes to promoting an offbeat character like Deadpool.

Today a new teaser has dropped – called “Wet on Wet” – that features Wade Wilson wearing an all-new type of costume as he celebrates the joy of painting… and cocaine. Yeah, this one you just need to watch for yourself.

While we’ve seen a teaser for the film that played before Logan in theaters, that footage was filmed exclusively for that short and didn’t actually feature anything from the sequel. This teaser marks our first look at the actual footage, without revealing too much of the film. We get to see the return of some great characters – like Karan Soni’s Dopinder and Brianna Hildebrandt’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead (complete with a new X-costume!) – as well as a brief taste of some of the action and humor of the film. Not to mention an oh so quick tease of Cable’s robotic hand and his arsenal of weapons.

There was a lot going on in the trailer in terms of references as well, with A Clockwork Orange and Soylent Green kicking off the different types of movie-related colors Deadpool/Bob Ross is using on his masterpiece, before whacking off his brushes in true Bob Ross fashion. Eagle-eyed viewers will also catch a few hilarious names in the “show” credits at the end, including things like Dalton as Security (Road House reference for the kids in the back) and Wayne Cambell in charge of both Camera One and Camera Two (Wayne’s World).

A new synopsis was also released for the film, though it doesn’t offer too many details on the upcoming sequel:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

We can expect more crazy promotions from Deadpool 2 to come in the next few weeks, which will hopefully include our first footage of both Cable and Domino, as well as the mysterious villain Jack Kesy signed on to play. Keep it locked to GEEK for more from Deadpool 2 as we head toward the June 1, 2018, release date.
