Den Of Thieves is a gritty Los Angeles crime saga which follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

Generic action films like these have been Butler’s bread-and-butter for nearly a decade now. If its budget looks mid-range and there are just enough ridiculous set pieces you can be sure his name was in the mix. The trailer for the movie itselfbeing touted as the “final” trailerlays out just about everything you might need to know about the film. The cops ‘n’ robbers angle with both teams interacting with one another ahead of the heist. This might end up being a bit of fun; an intense heist film that feels lean and mean or it might just be another Gerard Butler slogger…Who knows?

Check out the trailer for Den Of Thieves below:

Butler co-stars in Den Of Thieves alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (War Dogs, Spy), Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours, The Manchurian Candidate), O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Evan Jones (A Million Ways to Die in the West, Gangster Squad), Cooper Anderson (I Hate My Neighbor!), Maurice Compte (A Walk Among Tombstones, End of Watch), Kaiwai Lyman-Mersereau (American Violence, Westworld), Mo McRae (Wild, Thirteen), Meadow Williams (Apollo 13) and Brian Van Holt (S.W.A.T.).

Directed by Christian Gudegast, Den Of Thieves is the directorial debut of the one-time screenwriter who was involved with penning London Has Fallen (another Butler action-film) and A Man Apart. Gudegast wrote the screenplay for this as well which was based on a story he co-wrote with Prison Break: The Final Break writer Paul Scheuring (the two also co-wrote A Man Apart).

Check out the double-poster for Den Of Thieves which emphasizes the opposing teams: Cops and Robbers with Jackson suiting up to take down Butler’s thief.

Den Of Thieves will bow in theaters January 19, 2018.

Den Of Thieves: Gerard Butler Is On The Opposite Side Of The Law

The gritty new action film showcases a 21st century interpretation of Michael Mann's Heat, though it probably won't be as good.
