At this past weekend’s Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con, a special behind-the-scenes video was released for the brand-new digital series, Stargate: OriginsOrigins will explore a brand new chapter in Catherine Langford’s early history surrounding the extraordinary portal. Young Catherine embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save Earth from the unimaginable darkness.

Posted by the Stargate Command YouTube Channel, associated with MGM’s all-Stargate streaming platform, the teaser shows off some of the first behind-the-scenes footage of the new prequel series. Ellie Gall and various other cast members appear on a set that looks to be Abydos, the Egypt-styled planet from the original film. The crew, however, only refers to the set as “tent city.”

Check out the BTS video for Stargate: Origins below:

Ellie Gall leads the cast of Stargate: Origins and is set to portray the legendary Stargate icon, Catherine Langford, who was played by Elizabeth Hoffman in the original Stargate SG-1.

Stargate: Origins co-stars Star Trek: Enterprise’s Connor Trinneer as Langford’s father, with other roles to be announced as production continues. Joining Trinneer and Gall on the cast are Salome Azizi, Philip Alexander, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Daniel Rashid, Sarah Navratil, Shvan Aladdin, Tonatiuh Elizarraraz, Derek Chariton, Justin Michael Terry and Lincoln Werner Hoppe.

The show is directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan (who appears in the teaser) and was written by Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry. Byrce Morgan can be heard saying: “We had stunts and we had blood and we had emotional moments, and I feel like we really hit all those and at the end, it was going and going and going and going.”
