It feels like filming for Sony’s upcoming Venom film from Ruben Fleischer just flew by. We saw a few set pics and videos that didn’t reveal too much from the film, and our first official look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock showcased his armband preference, and little else.

Of course, that hasn’t lessened our curiosity and hesitant excitement for the film, which amped up slightly when the first working logos for the film were released, showing the familiar comic accurate monstrous face of Venom, though still not an actual look at the character on film.

Yesterday Sony revealed the first official poster for the film while teasing what we assumed to be the first footage from the film today:

The poster reveals the new logo for the film, which is a cleaner, more stylized version of the logo from the actual comic series. We also get a look at the symbiotic eyes, with what almost appears like moon sections hidden in the white, but we could just be seeing what we want to see in hoping for a spaceborne origin for the symbiote.

Today, Sony released our first look at the film with this new teaser, which we also expect to air before Black Panther when the Marvel Studios film hits theaters on February 16. You can check out the first teaser for Venom below:

The teaser doesn’t reveal Venom quite yet, but we do get a quick glimpse of the symbiote in what we can assume to be the LIfe Foundation’s headquarters. We get our first looks at Michelle Williams as Brock’s ex-wife Anne Weying as well as Reid Scott, who appears to be working in the same lab that Eddie wakes up in. We see what appears to be a crashed (presumably alien) ship of some kind, and the teaser is heavy with dark tones and more drama than we were expecting from the usually action-oriented Sony Spidey films. The teaser ends with a brief tease of the face of Venom before it transitions into the V we’ve seen in previous promotion for the film.

Hey there little fella…

While not too revealing yet, it’s an interesting first look at Venom, which we will be taking a closer look at over the next few days. The adaptation is directed by Ruben Fleischer and stars Tom Hardy, along with Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott.

Venom hits theaters on October 5.

Venom Teaser Breakdown

While the first official footage from #Venom didn't actually reveal the Marvel character yet, we take a look at what the short teaser did show us from the upcoming Sony Pictures adaptation.
