It's been a long time coming, but finally we've got a glimpse at who'll be gracing the screen when everyone's favorite MMORPG hits the big screen, as the World of Warcraft movie has begun casting.
The official list of confirmed actors via Legendary and Universal Pictures are as follows: Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper, Clancy Brown, Vikings‘ lead Travis Fimmel, and Rob Kazinsky from this past summer’s Pacific Rim.
Now, while some of those names may not be immediately recognizable, at least one of them, Ben Foster, has some geek cred to back him up. Having appeared in films like X-Men: The Last Stand, The Punisher, 30 Days of Night, Freaks and Geeks, and Robot Chicken to name a few — you may have already seen his face and not realized it. Dominic Cooper also appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger as Howard Stark, and is scheduled to appear again in The Winter Soldier. And Paula Patton was in the last installment of the Mission Impossible series Ghost Protocol. So if you were looking for A-listers and find yourself disappointed, don’t despair! There’s talent to be found in this preliminary list.
While they work toward rounding out the rest of the cast, it looks like it’s still going to be awhile before the film is released. Earlier this December, hopes were dashed when the announcement broke via the official World of Warcraft Twitter account, in a tweet that read as follows:

Joystiq reached out for comment about any possible reason that might have been given for yet another delay in the film adaptation process, but as of yet there has been no official statement from the Warcraft camp regarding such. Perhaps the long wait won’t culminate in a subpar product like Duke Nukem Forever. We can only hope.
