It seems that after waiting anxiously for months for official footage from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we've been getting tease after tease over the past few days.
A few days ago, we heard about the series getting the go-ahead to begin production. Then we got a 6 second Vine clip, which ended up being a tease for the 32 second teaser, which really was just a tease for the full 2 and a half minute trailer. At this rate, I expect we’ll get an 5 minute featurette by Friday, a 10 minute sneak peek sometime next week, a 20 minute behind-the-scenes documentary by Memorial Day, and then wrap it all up with the entire pilot episode streamed online by the end of the month. Actually, if ABC is smart, they’ll debut it at San Diego Comic-Con in July (I’m willing to put money on it that they will).
Hey, I’m not complaining. I’m as excited as anyone to finally see this project finally come to fruition. This series has so much character and story potential that it could end up being Whedon’s most successful television venture ever (probably because it’s also not on Fox). No, he won’t be involved in the day-to-day, I’m sure, but there’s a wealth of talent already lined up for this series in front of and behind the cameras. Leave the big super hero epics on the big screen. When it comes to exploring the nitty-gritty of the Marvel universe, there’s almost nothing this show can’t do to bring low level, mostly unknown characters to the screen, tying everything together in a way only hinted at in the films.
What are you most excited to see in the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, airing Tuesday nights on ABC this fall?
