Not wanting to wait for Halloween to arrive, Cherry-Jelly Productions and Anime Jungle hosted a costumed pre-Halloween event called "Trick or Cosplay?"
Japan’s Assist Wig Sale and Exhibition – Wicked Wig Night - (Try saying that three times fast.) was held to promote the Japanese wig store, Assist Wig, this past Saturday night. Assist Wig is a Japan-based company that specializes in wigs, shoes, and other accessories.
A gathering of enthusiastic cosplayers converged on Los Angeles’ Anime Jungle store in Little Tokyo to mingle with and showoff their costumes to others as well as check out exciting events hosted by Assist Wig and Anime Jungle. Special events included an accessories exhibition and sale, fashion show, contest, and a photo booth to boot.
Special guest Ayumi Fujima, who is a professional stylist for Assist Wig, demonstrated a special tutorial featuring Assist Wig’s virtually un-tanglable wigs, wig tools, props, and shoes. Ayumi is a popular cosplayer in Japan, having appeared on Japanese magazine Cosmode’s cover twice and had represented Team Japan at the World Cosplay Summit. She spoke about her life in Japan, her job at Assist Wig and answered questions from the audience about being a cosplayer, wigs, and otaku lifestyle as well.
Anime Jungle and Assist Wig’s entertaining and unexpectedly educational themed event went on until the late evening to the delight of those who attended. There was a sense that even after the event was over, that no one wanted to go home. Event promoter Cherry-Jelly Productions really did an excellent job of simultaneously ushering in an early dose of Halloween spirit and promoting authentic Japanese cosplay lifestyle.
