WolfCop: the movie about a drunken cop, who becomes a drunken werewolf, has been making headlines on the internet for quite some time now.
Geek has covered it before in fact, most recently with this WolfCop trailer, but it was a surprise even to us to see just how beloved the movie already is. So excited are people about the concept, that a sequel has already been confirmed, even though the first film is not even out yet!
The film will still have its original director, Lowell Dean, but no other information is available at this time. The reason behind the sequel confirmation is attributed to the film’s success at the Cannes Film Festival. While at a buyers screening, the decision was made to green light the follow up.
Below is a quote which tells us a little more behind the reasoning for the proposed new movie.
“We are ecstatic by the reception of international buyers to CineCoup’s first feature film,” says Brad Pelman, CineCoup President, Distribution and Sales. “Based on the unanimous positive reaction to the film, we will be putting Wolfcop 2 into production this fall. We can’t divulge much about the storyline at this point, only that it will be dirtier and hairier than the first one.”
“The unique audience-driven model has created a flurry of international interest,” says Raven Banner Managing Partner, Michael Paszt. “That, combined with the genre appeal of WolfCop and its vast spin-off potential has made both CineCoup as a business model and the film an instant hit with international buyers.”
It is hard to know where the next chapter in WolfCop’s cinematic life will take him, but it is obvious he does not find a cure for his wolf infliction, otherwise the film would be rather short. Unless Lowell decides to get our anti hero re-infected? We may not know much about this, but what we do know is that the first WolfCop will still be released June 6, 2014.
