At 2011's Toronto International Film Festival, Adam Wingard premiered a movie called You're Next. It was met with mostly positive reactions then, and now, almost 2 years later the movie is getting a wide release.
You’re Next is the story of a family reunion gone terribly wrong. The Davisons get together and quickly become the targets of a group of masked persons with ill-intent. Check out the trailer:
Much of the trailer would lead you to believe it’s just another home invasion horror flick, the likes of which we’ve seen a thousand times, but that would fly in the face of what early reviews are saying. The movie is being praised for the fresh tone and originality – something fans of this genre have been clamoring for, for what seems like decades. It’s also been said that unlike many other movies of this ilk, this one has real re-watch value, implying something unexpected will happen.
If that’s not enough to get you excited however, it’s been holding strong at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Are you intrigued enough to head to the cinema for a scare?
